Given our overall lackluster wine tasting volume during the last 12 months we are just now getting around to drinking wines we have had in the racks for a while now. This wine we purchased at the winery last year when we took one of the first trips to the Valley after our little guy arrived.  As you can see from the picture, we know require a 'Swear Jar' to go along with our wines.  It really is amazing to see how your terrible habits come back to roost on you. For those unaware, we here in Nova Scotia have an actual appellation for our aromatic whites.  Tidal Bay was born a couple of years ago as great idea to play to our strengths as a wine region.  There are many regulations that go with putting Tidal Bay on your label including the grapes you can use as well as percentages of each.  Same idea as Bordeaux or Barolo with rules and regulations.  It's a flexible blend wine in terms of allow winemakers to us...

We purchased this wine a while ago at a Cristall Wine Merchants  where they were selling this and a Saperavi (Georgian Red) where we had previously done a quick Blog post about ( see that here ).  Coincidently, the Georgian Lelos beat the Oaks of Romania for placement in the 2015 Rugby World Cup yesterday as well.  Go Georgia and good luck against the All Blacks. :) We were talking to a former staffer who gave us some insight on how these Georgian wines came to Nova Scotia and how expensive it was to get them here.  Having to have the wines shipped from Georgia to Germany then on to Canada.  That said, they retailed for less than $20 so it would be interesting to know the wholesale price. Now that the Atlantic Canada Wine Symposium is over, it is back to reality for us.  It is now time to take everything that we learned and try and leverage as much as we can to do two main things: 1) Enhance the Content for this Blog 2) Become better Brand Ambassadors for the Wines and Wineries of Nova Scotia For the content we want to make sure what we are talking about is as relevant as possible for our audience.  I am taking to heart the discussion from the Media Panel with Christina Harnett, Craig Pinhey, and Peter Spurway where they stated (and I am paraphrasing) that you need to provide interesting material with which to write stories and that makes engaging your audience easier.  So, we are challenging ourselves to keep the discussion interesting and lively.  So, let's see how that goes. Today was just amazing.  I had a great time yesterday but man we were just getting started. The morning started with Bill Redelmeier, owner of Southbrook Vineyards near Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ontario.  Their LEED Certified winery is an amazing place which we have visited on a couple of occasions when in the Niagara region.  It was a treat to hear him speak about the industry and his experience growing grapes and making wine.  His talk revolved around where the industry is heading.  He wanted us to focus on how everyone in the wine industry in Nova Scotia can work together to advance the entire industry. Nova Scotia Wineries are not as much in competition with each other as competing against Beer and Coca Cola for consumer dollars and attention.  He also told us about his adventures on Dragon's Den with his Bioflavia Grapeskin Powder product which was awesome as we are avid watchers.  Up next was the Commercial Vineyard Techniques with Wes Wien...
