The 2012 Atlantic Wine Symposium - Unfussy Wine Will Be In Attendance

Yes indeed, there will be Blogging!  Live Blog posts (or Facebook posts) and Tweets will be produced.  We were hoping to both attend but work being what it is Chris is taking in this one.  Check out the Event's site here.

The agenda of sessions and speakers is impressive and we hope to take away a lot of good information about the wine industry in Atlantic Canada and hear about the challenges and opportunities that come from it.  Admittedly we are novices when it comes to the industry side of things.  As we have stated before we are not insiders by any stretch but we certainly are interested in how the real business side of things works and cannot wait to hear about Social Media and Marketing end of the business (as you can imagine).

So here is what we will be attending:

Sunday May 27

Noon to 5 pm - Building Effective Customer Relationships Wineries Sales and Marketing Techniques to Increase Visitation and Drive Revenues (we passed on the Pesticide Certifications Workshop....strangely).

Monday May 28

8:30 am - Rising Tides Keynote Address – State of the Industry

9:15 am - Commercial Vineyard Techniques (Copious notes will be taken as Shannon does have a Green Thumb) :)

10:30 am - Effective Winery Websites (Right up Chris' alley)

11:15 am - Experiential Marketing of Wineries (Interesting stuff since we pay attention to that sort of thing)

1:30 pm - Wine Events – Planning and Strategies to WOW Visitors (Love it)

2:15 pm - He Said –She Said – Sensory Perception (Always interesting)

3:30 pm - The Nova Scotia Tidal Bay Story (Definitely want to hear about that)

4:15 pm - Media Relations Panel (Maybe a question or two perhaps?)

Tuesday May 29

8:30 am - Henry of Pelham – A Case Study of a Traditional Winery Model (Love Niagara!)

9:15 am - Finger Lakes Wine Country, A Wine Tourism Success Story (What a coincidence? It just so happens to be on our Wine Tourism to do list)

10:30 am - Millenials – The New Wine Consumers (Definitely interested in this)

11:15 am - Social Media Panel (Another one right up our alley)

2:00 pm - Commercial Vineyard Techniques (Just in case the Green Thumb really takes hold) :)

2:45 pm - Getting From Here to There – How to Grow a Small Wine Region Sustainably (Great to hear about future planning)

So, there it is a great selection of sessions over three days.  With the news that the Nova Scotia wine industry is getting an influx of Government support, we think this is gonna be great (to read more click here).  We are there to Observe & Report as they say.  So stay tuned...exciting stuff!

Keep on drinking!

Chris & Shannon
